Adverse Childhood Experiences

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), things such as physical/emotional abuse, neglect, caregiver mental illness and household violence can increase the risk of many physical, mental and behavioural health problems (chronic disease, learning abilities, addiction, etc.). Research has shown that when communities and government sectors work together to help children and families, they can prevent and change some of the negative outcomes of ACEs.
