About Us

The Public Health Association of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island (NB/PEI) is affiliated with our parent organization, the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA). The CPHA is the leading independent, non-profit voice for public health in Canada. We are a volunteer-run organization of professionals working in various fields related to public health and population health. Our organization aims to improve the health of NB and PEI populations through advocacy, education, and leadership in public health.

Mission
The PHA-NBPEI members believe in universal and equitable access to the basic conditions that are necessary to achieve health for all. The Branch’s mission is to advocate for the improvement and maintenance of personal and community health according to the public health principles of disease prevention, health promotion and protection, and healthy public policy.

Objectives
The objectives of the PHA-NBPEI are to further the development of personal, community, and environmental health by:
  • providing liaison and partnership with the CPHA;
  • promoting professional and personal development of those interested in community health;
  • promoting positive health practices to the public, government, and industry;
  • providing an effective liaison and network both nationally and provincially in collaboration with various disciplines, agencies and organizations, on relevant community health issues; and
  • encouraging and facilitating measures for disease prevention, health promotion and protection and healthy public policy.
